Butterfly, a design inspired by the transformative nature of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, is a flexible aircraft seating system that allows for instant transformation between premium economy and business class flatbed suites. This innovative concept was born out of Lee's observation of wasted space on flights due to fixed aircraft configurations and fluctuating demand. As a former airline employee, he recognized the need for a seating system that could adapt to market changes, thereby improving operational efficiency.

What sets Butterfly apart from other designs is its adaptability. It enables operators to adjust their cabin configuration in real-time, making efficient use of valuable floor-space, increasing aircraft utilization, and reducing business risk. Each Butterfly suite consists of two reclining seats staggered relative to each other. When both seats are in use, they are sold as premium economy class. However, the airline crew can flip the window seat over to form a side couch, transforming it into a long-haul business class suite for one passenger. If the aisle seat is also flipped over, it forms a flat surface continuous with the side couch, providing a large sleeping surface for a passenger to lie flat diagonally.

The Butterfly project, which started in 2014 in Hong Kong, is still ongoing and has been recognized for its innovative approach. It was awarded Silver in the A' Vehicle, Mobility and Transportation Design Award in 2020, a prestigious accolade given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
